Mississippi man arrested for arson while majority of state remains under burn ban
SUMMARY: A 27-year-old man in Mississippi has been arrested for setting fires to multiple properties while the state is under a burn ban. The man was charged with second-degree arson and is suspected of committing another arson later that morning. The alleged arsons occurred in a county that is one of 43 currently under a burn ban, as parts of Mississippi have not received measurable rain in over a month. So far in August, over 420 wildfires have burned more than 5,000 acres across the state. The Mississippi Fire Commission has activated its Incident Management Team in response.
