Mississippi lawmakers consider bill that targets Sunday liquor sales
SUMMARY: Bill 329 would give cities, counties, or towns the option to hold a vote on allowing liquor sales on Sundays if a certain number of signatures are gathered on a petition. If approved by voters, liquor stores could operate on Sundays from 1pm to 6pm. Retailers would then have the choice of whether or not to open on Sundays. The House also discussed the statute of limitations during this session.

SUMMARY: The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) hosted an open house to discuss proposed transmission system improvements in the Golden Triangle area. Shane Beasley, TVA’s transmission siting manager, announced plans for an 18-mile power line from Clay to Artesia, aimed at enhancing transmission capacity and reliability to support the region’s residential and commercial growth. The event allowed community members to interact with decision-makers and express concerns about the project, including easement payments and structure designs. TVA is currently gathering input, with a preferred route decision expected in Spring 2025 and an anticipated service start date in 2028.
TVA held an open house at the Civic in West Point to hear the community’s thoughts and concerns about their proposed transmission system improvements project.
