Mississippi lawmakers are considering a bill that would have mutual aid requirements
SUMMARY: State lawmakers are considering a bill that would mandate ambulance providers to include Mutual Aid Clauses in their contracts. House Bill 1644 recently passed the accountability efficiency and transparency committee and would require companies providing exclusive services to cities or counties to allow other companies to respond to calls in certain situations. The bill would go into effect on July 1st and apply to contracts renewed or approved after that date. This measure aims to ensure that ambulance services can still be provided effectively even when the main contractor is short on staff or equipment.
