Mississippi Insight for Nov. 12, 2023: Recapping the 2023 Governor’s Race

SUMMARY: Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves has secured a second term after a low-turnout election against challenger Brandon Presley. Reeves won with 52% of the vote, while Presley received 47%. Observations and analysis of the election were provided by Russ Latino, Senator John Horn, and former Republican Governor Haley Barbour. Milstep’s Professor Eric Schmidt shared insights into how young voters perceive the current political climate. All eight Republican state officers in Mississippi were re-elected.
