Mississippi inmate captured wearing only a sheet after escape
SUMMARY: An inmate escaped from the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility (CMCF) on July 5 but was recaptured wearing only a sheet shortly afterward. Authorities, including Rankin County deputies, the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), and local police forces, were alerted around 12:45 p.m. after discovering blood and clothing on the prison’s exterior fence. They established a perimeter and searched for the escapee. A suspicious individual in a nearby neighborhood was reported by a citizen, prompting the deployment of K-9 “Voodoo,” who quickly tracked and found the inmate in a lake. The Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) has taken the inmate back into custody and is conducting an internal investigation.
