Mississippi Forestry Commission requests resources to combat wildfires

SUMMARY: The Mississippi Forestry Commission has requested resources from other states to combat wildfires due to extended drought conditions. The resources include equipment and personnel, and will be provided through the South Central and Southeastern Wildland Fire Compacts. The Florida Forest Service has already sent strike teams to assist in fighting the wildfires, and more help is expected from Alabama, South Carolina, Tennessee, and possibly other states. Currently, 45 counties in Mississippi are under a burn ban.
