SUMMARY: Mississippi Senate has passed a bill (44-8) that would introduce early in-person voting 15 days before elections, ending the 45-day in-person absentee voting period known for delays. Under Senate Bill 2580, proposed by Sen. Jeremy England, voters would cast ballots using a scantron that’s counted electronically on election night. This aims to provide more flexibility for those with conflicting schedules on election day, eliminating the need for an excuse to vote early. Mail-in absentee voting will remain for qualifying individuals, with the military receiving ballots 45 days ahead. The bill now moves to the House and could be effective from January 1, 2026.

The Bulldogs, currently 25-19 with a 7-14 conference record, are set to miss the postseason for the second time in three years. Athletic director Zac Selmon emphasized the need for leadership change to meet expectations. Pitching coach Justin Parker will serve as interim head coach while a national search for a permanent replacement begins. The season continues against Kentucky this weekend.
