Mississippi Airman Accounted for from WWII

SUMMARY: The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency announced the identification of U.S. Army Forces Staff Sgt. Alvin R. Scarborough, who died as a prisoner of war during World War II. Captured during the Bataan Peninsula surrender in 1942, he endured the Bataan March and was interned at Cabanatuan POW camp, where he died on July 28, 1942. His remains were buried in a common grave and later moved to the Manila American Cemetery as unidentified. Advances in forensic techniques, DNA analysis, led to his identification. Scarborough will be reburied in Carthage, Mississippi.
