Carter looks to keep seat in Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District race | Louisiana
SUMMARY: Incumbent U.S. Rep. Troy Carter, D-La., is the clear favorite in Louisiana‘s 2nd Congressional District for the Nov. 5 election, following a successful term after winning a special election in 2021. The district, a Democratic stronghold, is predominantly Black and spans from Iberville to New Orleans. Carter faces three Republicans and a Democratic challenger, community organizer Devin Davis, who aims to address systemic racism. The Republican candidates include Devin Lance Graham, Christy Lynch, and Shondrell Perrilloux, who focus on immigration and economic issues.

Watch: Tracking Hurricane Milton
SUMMARY: Hurricane Milton has intensified into a Category 4 storm with sustained winds of 155 mph and is expected to reach Category 5 status shortly. The National Hurricane Center warns of life-threatening storm surge, predicting 8 to 12 feet along the Florida coast, particularly around Tampa Bay, where landfall is expected Wednesday evening. The storm’s small eye size has contributed to its rapid intensification. Although wind speeds may decrease by landfall, the storm surge remains a critical threat. Evacuations have been ordered in affected areas, and residents are urged to heed warnings as conditions could be unprecedented for Tampa’s residents.
