Millions in federal funding set to plug up flooding issues in Calhoun City
SUMMARY: Calhoun City in Mississippi is set to receive $10m in federal funding to tackle flooding issues in the town through the Yalabooaha river project. The initiative has been in the works for nearly 15 years and will offer residents a permanent solution to recurring flooding, which has affected local infrastructure, schools, roads, agriculture, and the wider community. The Eastern portion of the river is expected to be dredged before the year’s end to ensure clearer water flow through the area and Grenada Lake.

Suspect in the killing of UnitedHealthcare’s CEO struggles, shouts while entering courthouse
SUMMARY: Luigi Nicholas Mangione, a 26-year-old Ivy League graduate, was arrested in Pennsylvania and charged with the murder of Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare. Mangione, who expressed disdain for corporate greed and the health insurance industry, was found with a gun matching the murder weapon and fraudulent IDs. He initially gave false identification but was recognized at a McDonald’s. Mangione, who wrote a three-page document expressing anti-corporate sentiments, is being extradited to New York.
