This milder form of pneumonia primarily affects children, teens, and young adults, allowing individuals to continue their daily activities. Symptoms resemble those of a cold or flu, including fever, fatigue, shortness of breath, and a prolonged cough. If symptoms persist for over 10 days, a doctor visit is necessary for diagnosis, as there are no at-home tests. Treatment typically involves a course of antibiotics, and the condition is contagious.
