Miami-Dade police officers involved in deadly Miramar shooting are set to be arraigned

SUMMARY: Today, three of four Miami-Dade police officers indicted by a grand jury in connection with a fatal shooting are scheduled for arraignment. The officers—Rulo Mirabal, Jose Mato, Richard Santian, and Leslie Lee—face manslaughter charges stemming from a 2019 shootout on Myanmar Parkway following a robbery and kidnapping incident. The chase began in Coral Gables, resulting in the deaths of the two armed suspects, a UPS driver named Frank Ordonia, and a 70-year-old bystander. Frank left behind two young daughters. While the officers could face up to 30 years in prison, this outcome is less likely due to it being their first offense.

Teri Hornstein reports four Miami-Dade police officers are facing charges after a four year investigation stemming from a shoot out on Miramar Parkway in 2019.
