MHP troopers find 1,200 pounds of marijuana in van

SUMMARY: A driver was arrested in Pontotoc County, Mississippi after troopers found 1,200 pounds of marijuana in his vehicle during a traffic stop for careless driving on February 25. The driver claimed he was transporting medical supplies from California to North Carolina. A K9 alerted authorities to the drugs hidden in a vault in the back of the van, along with 5,500 suspected items of drug paraphernalia and 20 pounds of cannabis concentrate. The driver, whose name was not disclosed, was charged with trafficking marijuana and distribution of paraphernalia.
