SUMMARY: Egbert was to 210 years for attempted murder. Meanwhile, a 23-year-old man, Alontavious Sims, was pulled over for speeding on Interstate 55. After being ticketed for not wearing a seatbelt, he reportedly threw the ticket out the window and fled, leading to a chase. Sims was apprehended and taken to County Detention Center. An hour later, during a safety checkpoint, troopers pursued a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica driven by 35-year-old David White, who also refused to stop. Both incidents involved Mississippi State Highway Patrol responding to traffic violations.

Interview: Grammy Museum in Mississippi displaying Taylor Swift exhibit

Tupelo's Braylen Williams ruled ineligible to compete in the 2024-2025 academic year

SUMMARY: Brillan Williams, a football player from High School, has been ruled ineligible by the MHSAA for the 2024-2025 school year after transferring from Nettleton High School. The MHSAA determined that Williams’ move was not a bona fide transfer, stating it was purely for athletic reasons and occurred outside the transfer window. Tupelo High made a case for his eligibility since summer, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Williams had previously played as a quarterback at Nettleton High for two years.
