Mesquite man killed while walking to grocery store remembered as loving family man
SUMMARY: An 18-year-old, Jose Martinez, was arrested for intoxication manslaughter after a deadly crash in Mosquite that killed 52-year-old Alan Beler. Beler, a dedicated caregiver to his blind mother, often walked to run errands, but he was struck while returning home on Saturday evening. His family is devastated, describing his death as sudden and violent. Beler was well-respected in his community and attended Shiloh Terce Baptist Church. Martinez has been released on a $220,000 bond while police continue to investigate the incident. Beler’s funeral is scheduled for next Monday, with community support pouring in for his family.

Dry air continues to give us big swings in temperatures
SUMMARY: Good Friday morning! Meteorologist Justin Horn reports on Hurricane Helen, which is weakening but still causing rain, particularly in Florida, while North Carolina is recovering from flash flooding. The storm is being absorbed into an upper-level low, which may bring rain to Tennessee and Kentucky. In the meantime, dry air is leading to warming temperatures, reaching 85ยฐF by noon and a high of 93ยฐF in the afternoon. Evening football games will be pleasant with temperatures dropping to 82ยฐF at 8 PM and 77ยฐF by 9 PM. Expect sunny skies and warm temperatures through the weekend and into next week.
