SUMMARY: The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA), led by Executive Director Steven McCrae, has been actively preparing for hurricane landfall, coordinating efforts for several months. They have distributed over 112,000 sandbags, cases of water, and MREs to search and rescue teams in vulnerable counties. McCrae emphasizes the importance of community preparedness, urging residents—especially newcomers—to assist their neighbors and ensure they have necessary medical supplies. Six states are also contributing support for electrical restoration post-storm. MEMA is ready to assist, but individuals must prepare for the storm by having medications and plans in place to ride it out safely.
