Mega Millions jackpot increases to $1.58 billion ahead of Tuesday’s drawing
SUMMARY: The Mega Millions jackpot is currently estimated to be worth $1.58 billion, making it one of the largest in U.S. history. The last jackpot winner was in April, and this is the second time in less than a month that a lottery prize has reached the billion-dollar mark. The largest lottery jackpot prize ever was $2.04 billion, won in California. The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are one in 302.6 million. If someone were to win the $1.58 billion prize, they could choose to receive it as an annuity over 30 years or as a lump sum of an estimated $783.3 million, both of which would be subject to taxes. Mega Millions is played in 45 states and the District of Columbia.
