MDE releases school accountability grades

SUMMARY: Some schools in the Jackson Public School District and a school in Canton did not receive accountability grades due to testing irregularities. Dawson, Lester, and McLeod Elementary, as well as Peebles Middle School in Jackson, and Nichols Middle School in Canton, were among the schools that did not receive a score. However, Lanier High School, Marshall, and Wilkins Elementary did receive scores. The Jackson Public School District’s overall grade improved, just one point shy of a B. The state has taken steps to correct the actions and provide the necessary help to the affected schools.
