MBI taking on investigation into fire at Lowndes County jail
SUMMARY: A fire at the Loun County Jail on Friday night resulted in injuries to three deputies and two inmates, who were subsequently treated and released. One inmate suffered burns, while the others experienced smoke inhalation. Sheriff Eddie Hulin noted that the fire was started by an inmate in one of the six jail zones, where nine inmates were present. The investigation into the cause and potential charges is ongoing, with authorities having transferred the case to the Mississippi Department of Investigation. All 120 inmates have been accounted for following the incident.

MUW partners with hospital for new nursing program
SUMMARY: The Mississippi University for Women (MUW) has launched a new initiative to address the nursing shortage by partnering with Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle. This program allows Registered Nursing students to work alongside professionals, becoming student nurse residents. Associate nursing students at MUW will earn clinical credit while receiving training under the mentorship of a clinical coach. Two students from the existing nurse extern program will be selected for this new opportunity, enhancing their practical experience and preparing them for future nursing roles.
The Mississippi University for Women is partnering with the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for a new nursing program.

Escapee captured, ending manhunt
SUMMARY: The manhunt for 26-year-old Jaccory Carr, an escapee from the Wilkinson County Jail, has officially ended with his capture, announced on social media. Carr, a pre-trial detainee facing charges of murder and aggravated assault, escaped around 7:30 PM last night. Authorities have reached out to Capitol Police for more information but have not yet received a response.

Capitol police investigate apparent shooting
