MBI, JPD investigate officer shooting
SUMMARY: Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade addressed an officer-involved shooting that occurred during a domestic violence call on Jamestown Way. The incident happened around 6:00 AM when a suspect physically fought with the officer, subsequently driving away and hitting his leg and foot. The officer fired his weapon in response. The suspect later arrived at a hospital and is expected to recover, as is the officer, who is relatively new. Chief Wade stated that the officer acted appropriately, emphasizing that while the use of deadly force is undesirable, it may be necessary in self-defense situations. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is conducting an inquiry.

Union Country Day happening this weekend
