MBI investigates shooting involving JPD officer
SUMMARY: Police are advising the public to exercise caution regarding concealed carry firearms. In a related incident, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is looking into a shooting involving a Jackson police officer during a confrontation early Sunday morning. The incident occurred in a North Jackson neighborhood near County Line Road around 6:30 AM. Preliminary details reveal that the officer was responding to the scene when the man attempted to hit the officer with his car, prompting the officer to fire. Both the man and the officer sustained no serious injuries, and investigators are currently gathering more information.

JPD chief responds to latest round of homicides

Man charged following attack on Lowndes County jailer
SUMMARY: Thomas Richards, an inmate with a record that includes petty larceny, drug, and weapons charges, has been charged with assaulting a Louns County Sheriff’s deputy. The incident occurred when Richards was being transported back to jail from court after receiving his sentence on the initial charges. Sheriff Eddie Hawkins confirmed the assault. Following the new charge, Richards has been assigned a bond of $100,000.
