March of Mayor’s Food Drive underway in Central Mississippi
SUMMARY: Jackson and neighboring cities are participating in Extra Table’s 2024 March of the Mayor’s Food Drive, collecting various food items including rice, spaghetti noodles, peanut butter, canned tuna, canned corn, canned green beans, canned fruit, and canned soup. The collection has begun and will continue for the next four weeks. The food will support local food pantries in each participating city. Mayor Chris Gray Sr. and Mayor Gene McGee both expressed their enthusiasm for the program and encouraged citizens to contribute. Upon completion of the donation period, Extra Table, sponsors, and volunteers will host Mississippi’s largest food box packing party to distribute to food pantries across the area.
