Test scores improve across state
SUMMARY: In Starkville, Mississippi, recent trends show improved test scores and accountability ratings for local schools, as highlighted by Rachel Canter, Executive Director of Mississippi First. This progress is attributed to higher state standards, enhanced curricula, and collaboration among educators. Canter noted that when over 65% of schools achieve a B grade, the Mississippi Department of Education must raise the cut scores, making it more challenging for students. Despite potential changes, she emphasizes the importance of believing in the learning capabilities of all students, demonstrating consistent growth in educational outcomes over the past decade.
