Man wanted for arson dies after standoff at Canton home
SUMMARY: A man named Jadarius Smith, who was wanted for arson in Inglewood, California, has died after a standoff with law enforcement in Canton, Mississippi. SUMMARY: Torrence Mayfield, former police chief of Edwards and a previous Jackson police officer, pled guilty on November 20, 2024, to making a false statement when acquiring a firearm. He purchased a firearm for another person, falsely asserting it was for himself on the required form during the purchase at a federally licensed pawn shop. This act violates federal law.
