Man shot, injured by Austin police officer files lawsuit | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: A lawsuit has been filed against Officer Gabriel Walker Prao and the Austin Police Department (APD) for excessive force related to an incident involving 31-year-old Avalina Madell II. On April 6, officers responded to a 911 call about a domestic dispute and shot Madell, who was holding a legally owned gun in a non-threatening manner. He suffered internal injuries and PTSD, leading to the lawsuit seeking compensation for his pain and medical expenses. Madell’s attorney argues that the APD has a history of excessive force and lacks accountability. The city acknowledges the lawsuit but has not yet responded formally.
A man who was shot by an Austin police officer back in April 2024 is now suing him for excessive force, a lawsuit claims.

Cruz: Hate ‘manifesting right here’ during hearing on campus antisemitism | National
SUMMARY: During a Senate Judiciary hearing on hate crimes, Sen. Ted Cruz criticized pro-Hamas rioters and Democrats for the rise of antisemitism in the U.S., citing increased threats against Jewish students on college campuses. The hearing was disrupted by protestors, leading Cruz to label their actions as antisemitism. Cruz noted that antisemitic incidents have surged since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel, particularly in universities. He emphasized that while other forms of hate are swiftly condemned, antisemitism is often overlooked. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott reinforced the need for educational institutions to combat antisemitism and enacted measures to address this issue.
