Man sentenced to 10 years for taking Mississippi teen to Louisiana for sex
SUMMARY: Ronald Latiolais III, 28, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for taking a Mississippi teen across state lines for unlawful sexual activity. In April 2019, Latiolais drove from Louisiana to meet a 13-year-old girl he met online and knew was underage. He cut her window screen, took her to Louisiana, and admitted to committing sexual acts with her. Latiolais has been in jail since August 2022 and was found guilty of transporting a minor in interstate commerce for unlawful sexual activity in March 2022. He must register as a sex offender and will be on supervised release for five years after serving his prison sentence.

Mississippi welcomes nearly 44 million visitors in 2023

Holmes County man sentenced for illegal possession of firearm
SUMMARY: Tamarius Webster, a 37-year-old man from Cruger, Mississippi, was sentenced to 70 months in prison for illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He had pleaded guilty to the charge in April after being arrested in September 2022 while the U.S. Marshals were serving a kidnapping warrant. Deputies discovered Webster in possession of a firearm in Oxford. Following his prison term, Webster will also undergo three years of supervised release. He was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals after the sentencing by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Debra M. Brown.
