Man sentenced for Simpson County crash that killed two teens
SUMMARY: Joseph Franklin has been sentenced to 50 years in prison, with 30 years to serve and 20 years of supervised post release, for causing a crash that resulted in the deaths of two high school seniors in Simpson County, Mississippi. The crash occurred on Highway 43 in February 2021, and Franklin was convicted of aggravated driving under the influence causing death. Evidence showed that Franklin had entered the lane of travel and collided with the teenagers’ vehicle, killing Damion Ford, 17, and Eric McKenney, Jr., 18, and seriously injuring two other teenagers.
