Man recounts being attacked by bull shark while spear fishing in Gulf

SUMMARY: On June 29th, Wesley Fayard, a local spear fisherman, was attacked by a shark during a trip to the Gulf of Mexico, about 50 miles south of Pascagoula, while diving with the Deep Water Mafia Dive Club. Fayard, who was around 100 feet deep, had fish on his stringer when the shark suddenly attacked, biting his hand. Despite the encounter, Fayard managed to stay calm, surfaced safely, and received immediate medical assistance from a fellow diver who happened to be a doctor. Fayard credits his team and first responders for their help and remains undeterred in his passion for spearfishing.

A local spear fisherman got more than he bargained for during a recent trip to the Gulf of Mexico.
