Man killed in crash at Old Fannin Road intersection

SUMMARY: In Flowood, at the intersection of Old Fannin Road and Eagle , Michael Ray Smith crashed his Volkswagen SUV into a utility pole at around 6 AM, causing a power outage for over 1,300 Entergy customers. The power outage lasted until 7:30 PM, heavily impacting local businesses like Flying Dolly’s and Fannin Lanes. John Dolan of Flying Dolly’s expressed disappointment as the outage ruined a potentially record-breaking business day. Fannin Lanes’ owner, Mandy Christopher, lamented canceling the senior citizens’ bowling day, a crucial social for many elderly community members. Michael Ray Smith, unfortunately, died from his injuries post-crash.
