Man arrested in French Quarter mass shooting had criminal history
SUMMARY: The search for suspect Nicholas Murano intensified when NOPD tracked him using his ankle monitoring device. Officials from the ankle monitoring program reported numerous violations by Murano since September and criticized Judge Leon Rocher for failing to act on probation revocation attempts. District Attorney Jason Williams stated that, despite efforts to prosecute Murano for multiple charges, he only received probation. Following a recent shooting that left one woman dead, officials believe that earlier action on the violations could have prevented the tragedy. Attempts to reach Judge Rocher’s office for comment have yielded no response.
