Tracking possible Gulf development
SUMMARY: Forecasts indicate the potential development of a Gulf storm, with a 40% chance over the next week. While another system, possibly named Leslie or Kirk, is expected to form in the Atlantic, the focus remains on a system developing in the Western Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico. Conditions appear favorable for storm growth due to high humidity and warm water; however, strong wind shear may hinder significant organization. Increased rain chances are anticipated by Thursday and Friday, particularly in Florida and Southeast Louisiana, with predictions suggesting it may be a weak system, likely a tropical depression rather than a hurricane.
Meteorologist Devon Lucie starts us off with a focused look at the tropics where several storms are moving through the Atlantic, then returns to the Gulf of Mexico walking us through the latest data and what information we can make of it right now with regards to the timing, strength of storm, and how it affects our rain chances.

Hazing prevention, what ULM does to take action
SUMMARY: Hazing on college campuses is a significant issue, leading universities like ULM to take proactive measures against it. Louisiana law, reinforced by the Max Gruver Act of 2018, makes hazing a felony. Hazing is characterized as intentional acts that risk someone’s health or safety, differing from general bullying. During National Hazing Prevention Week, ULM held events encouraging students to pledge against hazing, including handprint murals and giveaways. Penalties for hazing range from fines to imprisonment and can involve Title IX processes for related issues. Students can report hazing incidents at the Office of Student Advocacy and Accountability.
