Man accused of three killings arrested
SUMMARY: Jackson police have arrested a 27-year-old man accused of murdering three people in the capital city. Jimal Tarvin was taken into custody at a home on Friday by the Jackson Police Action Team. Despite initially running back inside, Tarvin surrendered peacefully after police called for him to come out. He is accused of killing Travis Burrell, Jamie Hoard, and Nicole Garrett. Police had been looking for Tarvin since last year and are asking the community for any information that may help with the investigation. Tarvin’s arrest was deemed a success by Captain Warren Hull, who praised the peaceful resolution.

Absentee ballots available Sept. 23 in Mississippi
SUMMARY: Absentee voting in Mississippi has begun, with specific requirements for eligibility. Voters can cast absentee ballots if they are away, have a temporary or permanent disability, or are 65 years or older and unable to vote in person on the general election day, November 5th. To request an absentee ballot or verify eligibility, voters can visit their local circuit clerk’s office or make a phone call.

Former Natchez City Cemetery director dies
SUMMARY: Don Estus, the former director of Nachas City Cemetery, passed away last week in Oxford. He became the director in 1998, driven by his passion for history, which inspired him to write “Legends of the Nachas City Cemetery” in 2009, a compilation of over 100 stories from the site. Estus also co-founded Angels on the Bluff. A graveside service was held for him, where he was laid to rest in the cemetery he cherished.

Motorcyclist airlifted after crash in New Albany
SUMMARY: A motorcyclist in New Albany was airlifted after a serious collision with a pickup truck on Sam T Barkley Drive on Friday. New Albany Police Chief Chris Robertson reported that the rider, a local resident, was quickly transported to Memphis for treatment. His current condition remains unknown, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
A 52-year-old motorcyclist was airlifted following a crash in New Albany.
