The man charged with critically injuring a Ferguson Officer during a protest is due in court Thursday morning.

The pre-trial conference is set for 9 a.m. Thursday morning in the case against 28-year-old Elijah Gantt. The Ferguson officer whom Gantt is accused of assaulting, Travis Brown, remains hospitalized with a serious brain injury.

Ferguson police released of what happened in this case back in August. It all unfolded during protests outside of the Ferguson Police Department, marking the tenth anniversary of the Michael Brown shooting.

Police, officer Brown, moved in to make arrests after protesters tried to knock over the fence outside of the police department.

Authorities say in the video, Gantt runs into Officer Brown, knocking Brown to the ground. Brown was to stop Gantt from running away from the scene. Gantt was taken into custody, but Brown fell backwards, his head hard on the ground, leading to the critical brain injury.

SUMMARY: Winterizing your home early is essential for preventing issues during the colder months. Meteorologist Haley Fitzpatrick emphasizes starting this in October to avoid costly repairs later. Key tasks include shutting down your sprinkler system to prevent freeze and unhooking hoses to protect faucets and pipes. Adding insulation kits for windows and weather stripping for doors helps maintain comfort and energy efficiency. Before transitioning your thermostat from cool to heat, it’s wise to check your heating system and replace filters with pleated ones to trap dust and pollen effectively. Early preparation ensures a safe and comfortable winter.

We may be in the middle of October, but as we head toward the cooler months of the season, it’s a good time to begin winterizing your home.
