Major projection mapping show coming to Mississippi Aquarium this Christmas season

Meridian native Jamal Roberts advances to ‘American Idol’ top 20 with gospel rendition

SUMMARY: For the third consecutive year, a Mississippian has reached the top 20 of American Idol. Jamal Roberts, an elementary PE teacher from Meridian, secured a fan vote spot in season 23. Previous contestants include Jennifer Jeffries, who also reached the top 20 last season, and Zachariah Smith and Colin Stough, who made it to the top five in season 21. Roberts performed “Forever” by Jason Nelson, impressing judges Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan with his talent.
