The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies (IMMS) responded to the report, considering the stranding event unusual as it involved four dolphins of the same species. Samples and photographs were collected for analysis. The dolphins were taken to IMMS labs for further evaluation, and necropsies will be performed with the Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine to determine the cause of their deaths. Anyone encountering stranded aquatic creatures should contact the IMMS Stranding Hotline at 1-888-767-3657.
