Lowndes County Jail escape: Brooks back in custody
SUMMARY: Terry Leshawn Brooks, who escaped from the Lowndes County jail on Halloween night, has been captured. Law enforcement authorities apprehended him on Ninth Avenue North in Columbus after a brief pursuit. Another inmate, Phillip Shane House, attempted to escape with Brooks but was caught within the jail fences. Additionally, Steven Jennings has been charged with conspiracy for allegedly facilitating the escape. Brooks was originally arrested in connection with a 2020 homicide and charged with accessory after the fact of first-degree murder. The name of the person who allegedly helped Brooks has not been released.
