Lowndes County convict still on the run after verdict
SUMMARY: A local judge has issued a bench warrant for Alonzo Leam, who skipped his closing arguments in a sexual battery trial after testifying and not returning from lunch. Leam, found guilty of sexually battering a 12-year-old, now faces a lengthy prison sentence. Circuit Judge Michelle Easterling has instructed sheriff’s deputies to locate and return him to the courtroom. District Attorney Scott Colom highlighted that Leam’s failure to appear is both disappointing and disrespectful to the court. Leam will also be charged with failure to appear.
