SUMMARY: Darian Atkinson, accused of killing Biloxi Police Officer Robert McKeithen in 2019, has been indefinitely committed to the Mississippi State Hospital following a competency hearing. Doctors revealed he is receiving treatment for severe mental illness, including schizophrenia, and struggles with symptoms like paranoia and hallucinations, hindering his ability to understand legal proceedings or assist in his defense.
