National Democrats file brief opposing Georgia election changes | Georgia
SUMMARY: The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has filed an amicus brief against new rules approved by the Georgia State Election Board concerning ballot counting and result inquiries prior to the November 2024 primary. Although the state Supreme Court halted these rules in October, the appeal is ongoing. The DNC argues these rules exceed the board’s authority and could undermine election integrity. DNC Chairman Ken Martin emphasized the importance of protecting democracy, criticizing the rules as attempts by Georgia Republicans to create distrust in elections. A hearing on the case is set for March 19, with other groups, including the ACLU, also opposing the rules.
