SUMMARY: A project along Highway 39 in Meridian, Mississippi, involved lane widening, intersection reconfiguring, and opening directional median crossovers to reduce crashes related to crossing and turning at multi-lane highway intersections. The new crossovers provide a safer way for travel to cross the four-lane highway and have been found to significantly reduce the number and severity of conflict points between vehicles. The project, which is near completion, is expected to greatly improve safety along Highway 39. Tupelo waiting on Target to make decision on new store
