Long road to recovery after Hurricane Milton
SUMMARY: After Hurricane Milton, recovery remains challenging for homeowners and businesses in Treasure Island, many of whom lack flood or wind insurance due to high costs. Susan Adams’ home was hit twice, first by Hurricane Helen and then by Milton, leaving her with significant flood damage and disrupted power. Residents are digging out from enormous sand piles left by the storms. Organizations like World Central Kitchen are providing up to 30,000 meals daily to support affected families. With many struggling to eat and repair their homes, the community’s resilience shines through, though the road to recovery is still long and difficult.
