NEW DETAILS: Accused Biloxi cop murderer not competent to stand trial
SUMMARY: Darien Atkinson, charged with the capital murder of Biloxi police officer Robert McKian, has been deemed not competent to stand trial. Despite disappointment from McKian’s loved ones, officials remain hopeful that charges will not be dismissed if Atkinson’s mental state improves, allowing for a future trial.

Atkinson will continue to be held in a maximum security building at the Mississippi State Hospital in Whitfield.
