Local teams finish at the top of the MHSAA Class 1A All-Sports Award
SUMMARY: The Mississippi High School Athletic Association recently awarded the Class 1A All Sports Award, recognizing top schools for overall athletic performance. 2 people in custody after apartment shooting
SUMMARY: A front will pass tomorrow, but in developing news, there was a shooting this afternoon at the Park at Inverness apartment complex. Jackson Police reported that around 1 PM, multiple suspects were involved in a shootout, damaging cars and buildings. Two people of interest have since been taken into custody.

Tenth annual “AD 47 Leadership Academy” a success
SUMMARY: AEM Davis, a former Laurel star and now college football coach, held his 10th Annual 847 Leadership Academy on Saturday. The event saw a large turnout, including members of the Mississippi Highway Patrol and Laurel Police Department. Beyond football, AEM emphasized teaching life skills such as character, leadership, discipline, follow-through, and grit through football drills. He believes that football is a powerful tool for imparting these important life principles and fostering a better generation.
