Local law enforcement is urging residents to help keep the community clean

SUMMARY: Local law enforcement in Tishomingo County is urging residents to avoid littering to keep the community clean. Deputies shared before and after pictures of litter at the Steel Bridge, where they collected 43 bags of litter in just one week. Inmates in the area are helping pick up litter along roadways and other areas as part of a partnership with the sheriff’s department. With summer approaching, activity at lakes and recreation areas is expected to increase. Residents are encouraged to do their part by not tossing trash out of their vehicles. Similar clean-up efforts are happening in other parts of the area, with inmates from the Itawamba County Jail also participating in removing litter from various roads.

Tishomingo and Itawamba County sheriff’s offices picked up litter over the weekend.
