LIVE: Harrison County School District holds ribbon cutting for new Mobile Dining Room
SUMMARY: Millions of children receive free or reduced lunches during the school year, making summer nutrition a challenge. To address this, Harrison County School District introduced a mobile dining room to serve community children. The trailer, equipped with electricity, air conditioning, seating, and handwashing stations, can seat 24 children every 20 minutes. It will travel to six locations, including Pelican Cove and North Parks Estates. Parents can track the mobile diner online and find participating schools. The trailer also offers purchasable adult meals. The initiative, eight years in the making, aims to ensure that children continue to receive proper nutrition during the summer.
The new Mobile Dining Room will be used to support the district's free Summer Meals Program.
