SUMMARY: Buncombe County officials have reported a rising death toll of 72, with over 200 individuals still missing. In response to the crisis, numerous nonprofits, including Water Missions, have deployed to Western North Carolina. Water Missions has established a filtration system at Seacoast Church in Asheville, capable of producing 4,000 gallons of free water daily, requiring people to bring their own containers. Additionally, operations are set up in remote areas near Boone, with the nonprofit noting they typically respond to overseas disasters and have rarely operated domestically. Other national organizations, like Convoy of Hope, are also providing assistance.
