LifeCare ambulances will carry blood for patients in rural counties
SUMMARY: In Noxubee County, Mississippi, emergency medical services will soon carry blood supplies in ambulances, enhancing rapid response in medical emergencies. The initiative, part of the RESCUE Program launched by LifeCare Ambulance Service, aims to provide advanced resuscitation to patients in rural areas where transportation to hospitals can be time-consuming. Previously, trauma patients relied on helicopters to receive blood, which often faced delays due to weather. The RESCUE Program is the first of its kind in Mississippi, beginning in December. LifeCare has collaborated with Mississippi Blood Services to ensure the necessary resources for this critical service.

Alongside three other female kidney donors, she embarked on a bike ride titled “4women 4 kidneys 444 miles 4 days,” raising awareness for living organ donation. On September 25, they met Jason Keeton, who is on an eight-year kidney transplant waiting list. He expressed hope that meeting living donors would encourage others to donate. The ride concluded on September 27, but efforts to promote awareness continue on social media.

SUMMARY: Three men from Vicksburg, Willie Johnson (49), Jermaine Johnson (46), and Calbert Cosby (22), were arrested on September 26 in relation to a shooting that took place on June 7. The incident occurred in the 4100 block of Washington Street when officers found a wrecked vehicle and a 25-year-old victim, Devontay Knight, suffering from a gunshot wound. All three men face charges of drive-by shooting and aggravated assault, with Willie Johnson and Jermaine Johnson’s bonds set at $225,000 each, while Cosby’s bond is set at $250,000.
