Lieutenant governor race is one to watch
SUMMARY: In the race for the state Capitol, an insurgent Republican is taking on the party establishment. Candidates include incumbent Delbert Hosemann, Brandon College professor Tiffany Longino, and longtime state senator Chris McDaniel. Hosemann and McDaniel’s campaigns have been focused on negative attack ads. Hosemann claims McDaniel has accomplished little in his time in the state senate, while McDaniel calls Hosemann a fake Republican. The Mississippi College political science professor believes there could be crossover from Democrats in the Republican race due to the open primary system. Both campaigns remain hopeful for success as polls close.
Lt. Gov. Delbert Hosemann faces two challengers in the Republican primary.
