SUMMARY: After today‘s victory, fans in Lexington took to the streets to celebrate by setting couches and furniture on fire on State Street. Despite the chaos, the Lex Tim fire department quickly responded and extinguished the fire. However, the incident did not dampen the spirits of the fans, who continued to celebrate the Wildcats’ big upset.

Rain couldn’t stop Wildcats fans from taking to the streets to celebrate after the UK football team’s win against Ole Miss on Saturday.

The grant supports overtime for 45 specially trained police officers and funds a full-time mental health professional to assist on these calls. This initiative aims to divert individuals with mental health issues away from jail and towards treatment. Lexington typically sees 3,000 mental health-related emergency calls annually. City officials and lawmakers express optimism for the program’s success, highlighting the importance of officer safety and available mental health support during crisis situations.
