SUMMARY: Concerns are rising among police officers, firefighters, and officials regarding the state’s supplemental pay program for first responders. Critics claim some recipients, not fully engaged in hazardous duties, are undeserving of the funds meant for those in high-risk roles. Rep. Jason Dewitt highlighted complaints about delays in payments to active responders while others are improperly receiving funds.
